Whether you are yet to try a Yin Yoga class or are already a lover of the practice, this two hour workshop is designed to give you a great understanding of the fundamental elements and differences of Yin Yoga, as well as deepen your awareness of the workings of your body.

Yin Yoga is a holstic approach that seeks to harmonise the yin-yang polarities of ourselves. It is based on the ancient Taoist principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, dating back to 800BC.

Rather than accessing muscles and movement like regular yoga or exercise, Yin Yoga focuses on gently stretching connective tissues around joints and cultivating stillness. 

Knowing why and how Yin Yoga can complement your existing yoga practice, and your life, can yield us greater harmony, health, strength and capacity in both body-mind. 

Yin is particularly good for those who have limited flexibility or who are just starting out in yoga. There is no requirement to be experienced or advanced in yoga as Yin is about gently finding your edge, no matter how strong or flexible you may or may not be.

The Benefits

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn the difference between 'yin' and 'yang' yoga styles;
  • Discover why yin is oftern referred to as functional yoga;
  • Know what 'fascia' is and it's importance to yin?
  • Experience 'skeletal variation' and how it impacts your practice;
  • Explore some simple range-of-movements in your body and;
  • Enjoy the experience of a Yin Yoga practice and how it feels in your body.

As well as the theory, you'll get to enjoy a full Yin Yoga class, modified to suit your body and to put all your new understandings into practice. The practice involves slow, static floor-based postures and movements, held for periods of time to allow more deeply-held tension to be released.

This workshop is suitable for everyone - beginners, experienced practitioners, both men and women. There are no pre-requisites, except for a curious mind and willingness to explore the body.

Places on the workshop are limited to 15 participants, suitable for both men and women (aged 18+). Past workshops have been popular, so we encourage you to book your place early to avoid missing out!
